Lapped Joint - Flat Lapped Wall Cladding System

A flat lapped wall cladding system consists of a series of metal skins that are attached to the wall substrate using either exposed fasteners or hidden welded cleats.  The edges of the metal skins are not manipulated, thus allowing for a very consistent, near “flat” surface.

A flat lapped wall cladding system can be installed on practically any shape of surface, with the overlapping adjusted to maintain complete coverage.  Since the skins do not have folded edge conditions, this type of system can be constructed of practically any metal type or gage.

To ensure an affective water shedding system, Zahner incorporates custom made gaskets and sub-framing for proper attachment and sealing.

This system was used in context in Fischer Performing Arts Center, Experience Music Project, and Weisman Museum.
