The Wyly

Dee & Charles Wyly Theater

Probably the most intelligently thought out performance center in the world, this structure serves an enormous range of performance-based art.  Designed by REX Architecture firm and REM Koolhaus, whose teams are also responsible for a project that Zahner is involved with next door, the Winspear Opera House.

Zahner® was brought in by the architects to consider a solution for the exterior surface surrounding the building.  A few options were discussed, including cladding the structure in a perforated panel system rendered here.

The unique exterior cladding chosen for the final design creates the effect of a closed curtain at a theater, very fitting for a performing arts center. Zahner produced and installed this extruded anodized aluminum facade along with an Argentinian firm, and it was completed in October, 2009.
