Dirty Penny’s enigmatic colors provide a stunning copper surface unlike any other. It is available as a flat sheet good or for specification within a Zahner project.
Dirty Penny features a rich array of colors, from reddish-brown to orange and yellow shades — even deep hues of purple. These tones intermingle and create an intriguing mottled effect, initially exhibiting a slight iridescence.
Dirty Penny can maintain its iridescent luster if properly sealed and maintained; the finish can last indefinitely as an interior surface. Conversely, when exposed to the elements, the copper transforms into a captivating blend of deep reddish hues.
While all patinated copper holds up better outside, Dirty Penny does so incredibly well.
The protective patina impedes the copper ions’ tendency to combine with oxygen. Corrosion will occur very slowly because the longer the exposure time to the atmosphere, the greater the bonds between the base metal and the oxide.
Dirty Penny is an excellent choice for interior surfaces such as ceilings and wall panels.
Additionally, due to copper’s malleability, it can be easily perforated, bumped, and embossed.
